A little bit about me & why I become a Personal Trainer?
Hey Guys! Hope you’ve all had a fab & productive week! š
I thought this week I’d open up a bit more and tell you about myself, as I mainly only use my socials for work & I haven’t really spoken a lot about my journey, who I am or why I became a trainer….
So, hey š
My name is Vanessa Paige Summers, I’m 29 years old & I’ve been a coach for 3 years & 1 month!
Before that I was a waitress at Turtle Bay & use to spend most of my days & nights serving chicken & lots of rum cocktails!
So how does that relate to fitness? it doesn’t haha but,
I’ve always been interested in health & fitness! I studied dance at university and have been a member of gyms in the past, and struggled with body image and my weight for as long as I can remember.
I’d become a member of a gym, smash out the cardio, get bored and then quit. I’ve also tried pretty much all the crash diets you can think of. (I remember the stupidest one being the maple syrup diet – the Beyonce diet they called it. š¤¦š½āāļø
I do NOT recommend it)
Amongst all of this I suffered with binge eating disorder, bulimia & depression.
My mindset, body & mental health was a mess.
For years I treated my body like shit and it came to the point where I just had enough of feeling it.
I joined a gym one night and that was the beginning of the ‘change’
I think looking back now, I’ve always been strong willed, if I put my mind to something I will accomplish it, even though I didn’t know it back then.
I started taking the gym seriously, eating better, stopped binging drinking and started to see results and most importantly my mental health started to improve. As the years went on and the more I learnt about training, I realised I wanted to help people, women, just like me who have faced the same struggles I have.
A couple of years after moving to Manchester, (I’m originally from Leicester, not born & bred, in fact I’ve actually lived in 8 different cities, but that’s a story for another time :’)
I decided to take the leap and enrol on a PT course, I was offered a job at Pure Gym Market Street the day I ‘graduated’ and the rest is history I guess.
I’m still learning so much till this day, about how to run a successful business, how to become an even better personal trainer and I’m learning so much about myself too!
Being a personal trainer is honestly the best job in the world, I love it! I’m so lucky to do what I love and help and empower, so many people who have had the same struggles I have in the past!! I have no intention of giving this up anytime soon, and so excited for what the future will bring!
I hope you enjoy the week’s newsletter & as usual let me know what else you’d like to see from me, ut that’s all for now š
(I’m going to try and open up to you guys a bit more over the next few weeks, so I hope you didn’t get too bored of my rambling :’)
Thank You & Keep Lifting
Vanessa Paige Summers xx
